There are huge numbers of test kits in the market, those test kits can be useful for us. Those kits can check for as almost everything start from ammonia to be completed with iron. Test kits are must and can save our aquarium from collapsing, but which ones are worth having? To my opinion the must kits to have are ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, PH, KH, and GH. test kit Why those kits? Ammonia and nitrite will indicate that the filtration is appropriate, those kits are not necessary to test routinely but only in specific cases such as populated of fish increased , after any filter failures, at the beginning of your aquarium "live" to monitor cycling or any signs of problems in the aquarium. The nitrate kit is a useful indicator to water quality, as the fish stock increases and the fish grow, more fish are born, and wastes will increase accordingly, by checking the nitrate level we could know if our water changes are suitable. The PH, KH and GH will help you to fit type of fish to your aquarium water. More important is that all of those tests will provide you the information about your top water and your aquarium water. Phosphate test is commonly used in saltwater aquarium and in plant tanks. The phosphate is another way to measure wastes levels in the tank, extra phosphate in water implicated mostly by algae. Using those kits also can help us when we try to breed fish, by knowing the parameters we can fit them to the fish needs. Many fish keepers use more kits to test their water, to my opinion those kits that I mentioned are enough.
