To my opinion start the hobby with freshwater tank can be great, freshwater aquarium

is less demanded then other type of aquariums,

the equipment is less expensive and most of the fish are easy to keep.

In addition, starting with freshwater aquarium will give you the experience you need to

branch out into other types of tanks some day.

Plant tank:

Another way branching out is by keeping plant tank, plant tank consider as a professionals area,

to be honest keeping simple but beautiful plant tank is not mission impossible,

In general what you need is to upgrade your lightning and add some supplements to aquarium water. 

Invertebrate's tank: 

Perhaps, the latest trend in freshwater aquarium.

In the last decade considerable amount of shrimp exposed to the world, those creatures

became very request in freshwater hobby,

small tank, few plants and you have got beautiful tank.

Unique snails become very popular in the hobby too and there is no

problem keeping them with shrimp. 

Saltwater aquarium: 

Saltwater aquarium consider to be more difficult then freshwater aquarium professional zone only,

to my opinion with the right guide even newly keeper can be owner of a saltwater tank.

If you have the means to setup saltwater aquarium and if you have the desire to learn sky are the limit. 

Saltwater reef aquarium: 

With no doubt this is the ultimate aquarium, it's like having piece of nature in your house,

 imagine yourself tank with corals, invertebrates and colorful fish, these tanks however

more expensive to setup and more difficult to maintain.

The setup is expensive due to the equipment, in this type of tank you mast have protein skimmer,

suitable lightning such as metal halide, live rocks, test kits, high quality salt,

water purification units (r.o-reverse osmosis), pumps and supplements for corals.

Although this is the main expense we should not forget maintenance costs such as salt,

supplements and electricity.

Corals, invertebrates and fish are expensive too.

This type of tank is very demanding and you need to devote him time and always

be in awareness, if there any parameters changes or there is electricity break your tank

can collapse in a few hours. 

No matter if you decided to setup freshwater tank or saltwater reef tank there is only one rule

My kids are fascinated by our tanks I teach them what is responsibility by l

etting them feed the fish and their need to eat, I also teach them some biology and science,

my 5 year kid know what is symbiosis just by looking at the fish and the cleaner shrimp.
