Live food known as catalyse to reproduction in fish and to enhance colors.

There are many types of live food and what we really need to do is to fit live food to fish mouth.

In this article I will review one of my favorite fish food-grindal worms.

Grindal worms have a considerable amount of protein that helps us to feed fry.

At the beginning I used grindal worms as a food to betta, corydoras and livebearers but in short

time I discovered that it didn't matter what kind of fry, they all loved the Grindal worms.

First you have to obtain the first culture, when you got one, plastic food storage box can be

the ultimate place to keep grindal worms, each culture is fed and harvested at the

same time (every 24-30 hours).

It is very important to keep the culture indoor and let the culture suitable ventilation.

I learn to know that the best media to keep them is in peat moss or damp coconut fiber,

if you notice any production drops it is time to replace cultures, if you want to avoid production

drops you can replace the cultures continuously, the moss peat (or any other media) should

always be damp but never waterlogged or sodden, if it happen you can lose your cultures.

The easy way to feed those worms is on glass plate, it is very simple to do that,

by sprinkling a layer (light as possible) of oat cereal ( found in every market) on the glass and

placing it downwards the grindal worms get their food.

To harvest the worms (after 24-30 hours) you just need to running clean water over the glass, when done,

the glass is "ready" to use again.

In order to keep your culture productive you just need to remember some basics rules:

1-  Place your culture indoor and keep I warm.

2- Feed the culture every 24-30 hours.

3-  Make sure that the culture has suitable ventilation.

4- Replace the cultures continuously to avoid production drops.

The grindal worms are very easy to keep and breed and the most important thing is that your

fish get high protein food…..
