endemic to Lake Malawi, Africa. A number of varieties are available but

the most popular is the red fin variant. Like the entire 'Utaka'

(open water) group this great cichlid is mainly herbivore. In their natural

habitat the Copadichromis borleyi found in shallow to mid-depths of the

Lake. With its natural, beautiful colors the Copadichromis borleyi

became one of the most sought after cichlids around the world.

General information – The Synodontis petricola is an amazing

member of the catfish group but it is more recognized with cichlids

due to its origin and its dependence on cichlids to breed and thrive.

It is known to be the smallest Synodontis species in Lake Tanganyika.

The name Synodontis is from Greek, syn = together, odontos = tooth,

its name refers to the closely-spaced lower jaw teeth. Synodontis

petricola has an extremely developed scent, according to recent

researchers the petricola can smell even a small amount of food from

long distances.

General information - The Blue Pearl Shrimp is a beautiful shrimp that

was bred in Germany from wild Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis.

This species can not be found in the wild.It appears for the first time in

General information – The Maylandia estherae is one of the most

common Mbuna species in the world, with its red/orange colors this

magnificent cichlid is a great add to any Malawi fish tank. The females

are usually bright orange in color while males have protruding red colors.

In their natural habitat they can be found over rocky areas in the lake.

Most of the Maylandia estherae are collected near the Minos Reef, but

some are also found in Meluluca, Mozambique and in other locations.

In the wild males are normally blue but red males are also exist.

General information - The Five bar cichlid or by its common name

Lamprologus tretocephalus is an aggressive cichlid from Lake

Tanganika. It has an elongated body with five bars. These bars are

black in color while the entire body is blue. Due to its appearance it is

occasionally confused with his close relatives, the Neolamprologus

sexfasciatus (Six-bar Lamprologus). Some people even confuse the

five bar cichlid with the well known Cyphotilapia frontosa. To be

accurate its often called frontosa for the poor. In their natural habitat

they are found along rocky shore areas where they feed mainly on

snails and on fish
