General information - Acanthastrea Coral come in a wide variety of

magnificent colors. It is easy to care for and many reef keepers choose

this coral as their first LPS. In the wild the Acanthastrea Coral forms

large colonies over the surface of rocks and can be  found in most reef

environments to depths of 40 meters.

Scientific Name - Acanthastrea lordhowensis

Origin - Indo-Pacific, Australia 

Nutrition - The Moon coral will grow faster when kept well fed. This astonishing coral benefits from target

feedings. Small frozen foods such as cyclops, baby brine shrimp or Artemia will be ideal for direct feeding,

it is also recommended to feed it when lights are out and the feeding tentacles are extended.  

Behavior – Semi- aggressive  

Maintenance and care – Moon corals are easy to keep. This LPS coral is tolerant of changes in water

quality, its durableness makes it to an excellent coral for beginners. The Acanthastrea coral will appreciate

plenty of space to grow, it must be placed a safe distance from other corals otherwise it can be stung by

aggressive coral, as this coral get larger it can be aggressive too. These corals prefer higher levels

of magnesium (1200-1300).  

Water Parameters - Temperature: 75F - 82F (24C - 28C), pH: 8.2 - 8.4, dH- 8-12, 

Lighting- Moderate, it will thrive under T5's and Metal Halides
