Family - Characidae Origin - Rio Acandi, Columbia Size – Up to 2 inches (5 cm) First discovered – Unknown Nutrition – Omnivore, .The skirt tetra will accept most fish food including flakes, freeze-dried, frozen and live foods.It is highly recommended to feed them in small amounts at least 2-3 times a day. Behavior – Peaceful Maintenance and care – The Columbian tetra requires 15 gallons (60 liters) decorate with woods and plants. These decorations will help the Columbian Tetra to feel "at home" and also to provide it shelter. It is recommended to keep the Columbian Tetra in schools of 6 and more with non aggressive fish and with other peaceful tetras. Water Parameters - Temperature: 73F-80F (23C-27C), PH: 5.5 - 7.5, DGH: 0-18 Breeding - Egg scatterer. It is highly recommended to use breeding tank of 10-15 gallons in order to breed this species. The female should be first in the tank to give her the time to settle down. After spawning, the adults may eat the eggs so you will need to remove the adults after they release the eggs. Eggs should hatch after 24 hours and the fry will be free swimming in 3-4 days. The fry should be fed newly hatched brine shrimp, infusoria or with liquid fry food.
