General information - The Calico Ryukin has bombastic body with big paunch. It also has a hump between the head and dorsal fin. This fish has Red, White, Orange and Black colors combinations. The Calico Ryukin is a hardy species that can be kept in ponds or in aquariums. According to the Japanese this species is a version of the fantail goldfish. Size – Up to 8 inches First discovered - Developed from the common Fantail Goldfish. Nutrition - omnivores, the black oranda goldfish will appreciate varied diet. Goldfish flake or pellet food will provide the Black Oranda Goldfish with the proper nutrition, Fresh spinach, zucchini, and lettuce can be part of its vegetarian nutrition while frozen foods can complete its diet. Behavior - Peaceful Maintenance and care - Ryukin Goldfish should be kept in 30 gallons tank decorates with few rocks, woods and plenty of room to swim. The Calico Ryukin is a very adaptable species that tolerates a wide range of water conditions. This species like the entire goldfish group will thrive in coldwater aquariums and tolerate a wide range of temperatures.Ryukin Goldfish is recommended for beginners. Water Parameters – Temperature: 65F - 72F (18C- 22C), PH: 6-8 Breeding- Males are thinner then females and may exhibit breeding spots on their heads and flanks during the spawning season. Gradually increase the temperature to 75 degrees F. Provide soft vegetation or a spawning mop, and excellent water quality. It is recommended to remove parents once the eggs are layed, or the eggs will be eaten. A mature pair may produce over 1,000 eggs which hatch after 5-6 days. The fry are easy to feed on small live foods or with fry foods.
