General information – The Microrasbora sp. "Galaxy" is a newly

discovered fish from Myanmar in 2006, although it is new to the hobby

it became very sought after fish. The Fireworks Rasbora or by it other

common name Galaxy Rasbora live and collected from ponds in the

Salween basin. Males have a bright blue background color, and their fins

are more brightly colored, females are less colorful in general.   

Common Name - Microrasbora sp. "Galaxy", Galaxy Rasbora,

Fireworks Rasbora and Celestial pearl danio. 

Scientific Name - Celestichthys margaritatus 

Family - Cyprinidae 

Origin - Myanmar 

Size – 15 mm. 

First discovered - 2006

Nutrition – will accept commercial food but will do best with small live foods such as Tubifex,

Daphnia's, Brine Shrimps and Microworms.  

Behavior – peaceful 

Maintenance and care - The Microrasbora sp. "Galaxy" is a quite hardy fish it thrives best in

fairly soft and slightly alkaline water. The Galaxy Rasbora will do best in well planted tanks,

it also a schooling fish so keep it in groups of 6 or more.  

Water Parameters – Temperature- 24C-27C, PH: 7- 7.5  

Breeding – Spawning has successfully taken place over a bed of aquatic moss (especially java moss),

the male are known to eat their own eggs and fry so it is highly recommended to remove the moss with

the eggs to another tank. Infusoria or fry food can be used to feed the miniature fry.
