The rainbowfishes are belonging to the Australian region. Their beautiful coloration, active and moderate size in conjunction with Their frequently easy maintenance makes them ideal for our home aquariums. Since the majority is schooling fish, they will need free swimming space in home aquarium, they will also appreciate rocks and roots in their tank. The Melanotaeniidae are the rainbowfishes proper. The family consists of 6 genera and more then 55 species.
