General information – The Caridina sp. Cardinal is new to the shrimp

hobby. Although it is new it became very sought after shrimp.

The Caridina sp. Cardinal is endemic to Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.

Sulawesi Island also produced many new species of magnificent

shrimps and snails. The Cardinal Shrimp is found only in one of several

lakes in Sulawesi but this island is yet explored completely. This

beautiful shrimp has light to dark red colors with white spots running

along the side of the body.

Origin - Sulawesi, Indonesia 

Size - 1/2 inch to 1 inch

Nutrition - Feeding is best done once a day, the Caridina sp. Cardinal will accept fish food such as flakes

and pellets, Spirulina wafers and shrimp wafers.     

Behavior – Peaceful. Not timid at all. 

Maintenance and care – Very sensitive shrimp It should be kept in tank for its own with hard water and a

PH of no less than 7, it is also requires temperature of at least 78F. These parameters are must, otherwise

 it will die.   

Water Parameters – PH: 7.8 - 8.6, Temperature: 80F -87F 

Breeding – The Caridina sp. Cardinal Breed fairly easy, it has no larval stage.It can be breed easily in

freshwater not salt or brackish water is needed. The female carry the eggs until they hatch.

The female carry about 10-20 eggs and after 3-4 weeks the eggs hatch.
