General information – The crystal red shrimp is a red color variation of the Bee Shrimp from China and Hong Kong. It was selectively bred from the bee shrimp in Japan. Their colors stay red and white permanently and even young crystal red shrimp already show this beautiful coloration, those colors along with its character make this shrimp very popular and sought after in the shrimp hobby. The Crystal Red Shrimp is not a beginner's shrimp. "Crystal Red" Family - Shrimp Origin – Japan, Mutation of bee shrimp Size – 2.5cm – 3.5 cm Nutrition – scavenger and an algae eater. Feeding is best done once a day, will accept fish food such as flakes and pellets, Spirulina wafers and shrimp wafers. Behavior – Non aggressive. Maintenance and care – The Crystal Red Shrimp prefers soft acidic water. Clean water Is also a must. R.O system will insure these shrimps long live. This shrimp will readily cross with the bee shrimp, Chinese zebra Shrimp and the tiger shrimp Water Parameters – Temperature: 70°F-78°F, PH: 6-7.5, GH: 4-6, KH: 1-2 Breeding - The Crystal Red Shrimp is not as difficult to breed like some believe It will also produce just as many offspring given that the water is clean and the parameters are suited for this species.
