General information – The green shrimp has a beautiful basic bright green color and it will change its body coloration if it is stressed out or sick. Its colors along with its character make this shrimp very sought after in the shrimp hobby. Nutrition - This shrimp is an omnivore. The Green Shrimp feeds on all kind of algae, dead leaf and sometimes on dead fish. In home aquarium the Green Shrimp will accept fish food, shrimp wafers and catfish wafers. It is also can benefit from frozen foods from time to time. Behavior – Peaceful Maintenance and care – The Green shrimp need a lot of vegetation in his tank; the plants can be source of nutrition and also a good shelter for him and for the baby shrimp. Cichlid and other big or aggressive fish can't live with the Green shrimp in the same tank. The Green shrimp is sensitive to copper like all the shrimp family. In order to be in good health for the long run the green shrimp requires soft to medium hard, alkaline water. Water Parameters - 75F-82F, PH- 6.6-8.4 Breeding – Reproduce easily in freshwater, there is no need using r.o system. Green shrimp will breed in freshwater, but you are fairly unlikely to get survivors in a community tank unless it's very heavily planted. Breeding Green Shrimp is as simple as putting an adult male and female together in an aquarium. Reproduce at the age of three months with the size of about 2cm. Eggs are held by the female generally for 15-30. Larvas are miniature versions of the adults.
