General information – These green, grass-like can be recognized by the oval-shaped, brownish-flowering

spikes at the tips of smooth, round stems.

This is an annual or perennial spikesedge with long, grasslike stems.Eleocharis acicularis (needle spikerush)

In nature the needle spikerush found in marshes, vernal pools 

and bogs.
