General information – The Pseudocheilinus hexataenia known to be Great beginner's fish. With ita Orange, Blue, Green colors and its character this fish became very popular all over the world. Also known to be reef safe and does best in reef tank systems. Common Name – Watermelon Wrasse, Six Line Wrasse. Scientific Name - Pseudocheilinus hexataenia.  Family – Labridae. Origin - Indo Pacific, red sea. Size – 3 inches (8cm). First discovered - Bleeker, 1857. Nutrition – carnivore, will accept commercial food such as f lakes and pellets. Eat pyramidellid snails, urchins and frozen live food. Behavior – calm, known to be very active fish. Maintenance and care – requires minimum 20 gallon tank size, very hardy once acclimated, can be kept in small groups or singly, keeping them with other wrasse species is not recommended in smaller tanks. Water Parameters - PH: 8.1 - 8.4, Temperature: 70°F - 80°F (21°C - 27°C), Specific Gravity: 1.020 - 1.025, DKH: 8 – 12. Breeding - Egg layer. Not currently bred in captivity.
