General information – Asfur angel adults have blue color and yellow curved bar on the center of their body. The tail is yellow and their faces are black. Juveniles differ from the adults by their colors; Juveniles have dark blue overall appearance with white, bluish stripes on their body. In the wild, the asfur is found in rocky environments in depth of 3-15 meters. Asfur angels are one of the safest Angel fish to keep in a reef tank although nothing is 100%. Family - Pomacanthidae Origin - Red Sea and Indo-Pacific Size – Up to 16 inches First discovered - Forsskal 1775 Nutrition – Asfur Angel's diet should contain vegetables matter (Algae, Romaine Lettuce, nori, Spirulina) and high quality angelfish preparations containing sponges, frozen foods such as krill and mysis should be provided. It is also essential for the Asfur to eat meaty foods such as shrimps, squid and calm, it is best feed 2-3 times a day. Behavior – Usually calm but adults can become aggressive, especially towards other Angelfish. Maintenance and care – The Asfur Angel should be kept only in large fish tanks (135 Gallon as a minimum) with plenty of room to swim and plenty of live rock as a suitable hiding places. This fish is quite shy when first introduced to the aquarium but becomes more and more bold and territorial as he "finds" his place in the aquarium. The Asfur Angel is best kept singly. It is highly recommended to make sure that your future Asfur is eating before you purchase it.
