General information - The Flagfin Angel is an amazing, bright yellow Angelfish with blue lips and a gray spot behind the head. In the wild this astonishing species is found near Samoa to the east Coast of Africa. Due to its feeding equipments it should be kept only by experienced fish keepers. Size – Up to 15 cm (6 in) First discovered - Cuvier, 1831 Nutrition – Omnivore, in the wild the Flagfin Angel feeds on sponges and algae. In captivity the Flagfin Angel is difficult to feed. Try to offer him sponge-containing frozen angelfish foods, brine shrimp, mysis and krill. This magnificent angelfish should be kept only in a well established reef tank; they will spend most of their day grazing from live rocks so the rocks must be covered with algae. Behavior - Semi-aggressive Maintenance and care - The Flagfin Angel should be kept in a tank of 80 gallons or more with plenty of room to swim. They will spend most of their day grazing from live rocks. Flagfin Angel is one of the more difficult angelfish to adapt to prepared foods. Juveniles are the easiest to adapt so it is highly recommended to purchase them as juveniles otherwise they won't adapt and eventually die. The Flagfin Angelfish is prone to nip at soft and stony corals, clams are in danger too.
