Pomacentrids are small reef-fish that come from the Pacific-Ocean.

This family contains 4 sub-families, containing about 28 genera and about 335 species. The most common

genera are Amphiprion (Clownfish), Chromis, Abudefduf (Sergeant Majors), Chrysiptera,

and Dascyllus (Damsels).

These fish are mostly noted for their territoriality and temper. All are Substrate-spawners in which the male

declares a territory and entices a female to lay her eggs in the middle of it.

Usually the male tends and protects the spawn, using highly aggressive behavior.
