General information - The three Striped Damselfish is a very popular species around the world. On its body there are three black bands separated by two white bands with a smaller bar of white on the tale In nature it can be found in corals or lagoon reef environments at depth up to 15 meters. They are fairly easy to care for. Many fish keepers around the world use the Three-Striped Damsel to cycle their new marine aquariums; it’s a small but hardy fish, tolerant of poor water quality. This species is highly aggressive especially towards all fish introduced afterwards. They are fast with uncompromising behavior and in general they are fun, amusing and interesting species to keep
Common Name - 3- Striped Damselfish, Three-Striped Damsel, White-tailed Damselfish Scientific Name - Humbug Dascyllus Family - Pomacentridae Origin - Indo-West Pacific from eastern Africa and the red sea to the central and western Pacific as far north as southern Japan and south to Tuamotu islands Size – Up to 6.5 cm First discovered - Unknown Nutrition – Omnivore, in their natural habitat the Three-Striped Damsel feed on plankton or substrate-bound invertebrates. In captivity it will accept almost anything; high quality commercial foods (flakes and pellets) along with frozen foods will be great for it. It is highly recommended to supplement its diet with foods containing algae. Behavior - Aggressive Maintenance and care – Three striped damsel is easy to keep, it will thrive in a wide range of water parameters. It requires a 30 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of rock formations providing it hiding places. Due to its aggressive behavior as an adult, it will do well with other moderately aggressive fish in a community tank but can not be kept with fish that will see him as part of their diet. It can be kept in reef tanks with no worry, it won't harm invertebrates.
